Anti Gun Control Article

First, I am a life member of the NRA and Gun Owners of America. I want everyone who reads this to know I am not hiding my position with these fine organizations.  I agree that background checks is a good idea.  These checks should be "instant" checks. For me that should be within 24 hours. If a police officer can check you out while you are waiting to get your traffic ticket ( 5 to 10 minutes) than 24 hours should be enough to do a background check to purchase a gun. I say this because I do hunt and I need a gun to hunt. What would you want to happen to you if you went on a hunting trip and the airline lost your luggage (gun case with guns)? Imagine that you have spent $3000.oo to $5000.oo for this trip and it is a 5 day trip. How would you get a gun to fulfill this (possibly once in a lifetime) trip?  There are those that want laws that restrict the number of guns a person buys at one time. Well, I have two sons. I have had times where there was a good deal on a certain type of gun so I bought three, one for me and one for each son. As far as safety, The best safety device is education. I have educated my sons from the time they were 5 years old on the proper use and operation of guns. Guns were never "the forbidden fruit". My sons were never amazed by guns because it was normal for a gun to be in the house. If they wanted to use one they knew they had to have my permission.  I lock up most of my guns but do keep one available for my families protection. The Police can't be everywhere. I have also taught my family that if they should encounter a unusual situation in the home they should get out if possible and let the police do their job. If not, defend yourself. The issue to me seems to be guns getting "IN THE WRONG HANDS".  Never will anyone end "CRIMINALS" from obtaining guns. They are CRIMINALS.  They DON'T OBEY THE LAW, that's why they are criminals. Are we to make a law that says Criminals can't own guns? We already have those laws. A law that says children under 18 can't have a handgun? We already have that law. A law that says you can't shoot people. We already have that law.  Gun registration? Why doesn't anyone talk about FEDERAL GUN REGISTRATION FORM 4473. This form is required to be filled out by all gun dealers and a background check is done. I have seen times where Police Officers have not been allowed to purchase a gun because the system had errors on it and said the Officer was a bad guy.  There are those that talk about testing and re-testing. What is the price going to be for these tests? Yearly registration of handguns? What is the cost for the registration?  Many compare this to automobiles -- GREAT!!!  Lets outlaw automobiles until the death rate in cars is reduced to the same level as the death rate do to the misuse of guns.  Many talk about trigger locks to prevent unwanted deaths --GREAT  Lets require trigger locks on guns and MANDATORY BIRTH CONTROL for women that have abortions. Wouldn't the mandatory birth control save more lives than the trigger locks? At least prevention would save the BABY from being sucked into a sink. Partial birth is even better, they stab a full term baby in the head and suck out the brains. Is that child abuse?  In reality this issue is simple. The real issue is the Clinton Administration wants to run ALL the big companies. This is about money and power, period.  Look at tobacco. Why is it o.k. to sell tobacco if you give the Government more money? Look at Microsoft. What does the Government want? MONEY and CONTROL of the Company. Guns? Money and control of the companies- look at Smith&Wesson. Have you realized that there will be an additional tax on BEER?  This is to reduce the heath problems of teenagers that drink. Isn't it illegal for teenagers to drink????  Follow the money.  Have you heard about S.U.V.'s ? Not fair, must tax to " make a level playing field". Enjoy your McDonalds today because they will tax FAT FOOD. Again, Money and power.  If the Clinton Administration cared about CHILDREN why wouldn't they lead the fight to end Partial Birth Abortions and require birth control for the women that have abortions? This is really not about safety or the children. IT IS ABOUT MONEY AND POWER. Also, Remember this -- " IT IS ILLEGAL TO HAVE A CRIMINAL REGISTER THEIR GUNS", ACCORDING TO THE SUPREME COURT THIS VIOLATES THE CRIMINALS RIGHTS.
