The terrorist caught on the American-Canadian border several months back was described as being suspicious because he was "perspiring profusely".   Nothing could be further from the whole truth: he was noticed because he appeared to be of Middle-Eastern origin first.

Simply, he looked like an Islamic middle-eastern terrorist: Semitic, dark-skinned, dark features, dark hair, etc.    And that was what first caught the attention of authorities: his appearance.

His appearance was an objective tool that helped capture him; like it or not.
Despite the government's politically-correct reluctance to acknowledge that fact - that he was profiled.  Common sense tells you the truth of the matter.

And the fact that the terrorist was caught validates the method.  You use what works when the results require it.

Capturing terrorists or criminals requires using methods that work.  Not politically-correct, but less effective methods.

Profiling started with white males in serial killings: it worked.  Therefore, it is a valid method.

Used with black and Hispanic males for criminal conduct: it works.  Therefore, it is a valid tool.
Since it has and will work with identifying terrorists here in America, and abroad, it is a necessity.  Simply, our safety is paramount.  Quantifiable methods of detection that effectively ferret out terrorists or criminals, including profiling, produce positive results.  Results can not, and should not, be ignored only in order to placate our sense of politically correct justice.

Like it or not, law enforcement demands, and national security concerns demand  that we use those tools which will aid us in our goals.

Profiling works.  Don't sweat it.
